An overseas visitor’s guide to Media ASYLUM

Media ASYLUM resides in an old industrial building, in a part-commercial, part-residential neighbourhood that’s also close to one of the oldest red-light districts in Singapore.

When you look up our office in Google maps, you’d be impressed by the number of hotels that are close by. But as you’d expect, not all hotels near a red light district  are created equal, so we thought we’d offer some safer recommendations for our overseas guests to consider.

Note that this lists focuses on affordable options that are close to our office. For those willing to spend more and are combining study with some sightseeing, there are many other options downtown at a variety of price points.

Within Walking distance

  • Hotel 81 Orchid
  • Hotel 81 Premier Hollywood
  • five/6 Hotel Splendour

The hotels listed above are within a 10-15 minute walk to Media Asylum and are surrounded by a wide variety of good, affordable food.

A short ride away

  • Hotel Boss
  • V Hotel Lavender

These hotels are outside of the red-light district and cater to family and business travellers.

Here are a few ways to get to our office from these hotels:

  • MRT
    • Train from Lavender MRT to Aljunied MRT (2 stops). 10 min walk from Aljunied MRT
  • Bus
    • Bus no 2, 2A, 63, 80, 51 from just outside V Hotel Lavender (4 stops away) or Hotel Boss (5 stops away).
  • Taxi
  • Grab
